I am Carme Magem, I have always painted and drawn, as far back as I can remember. I can't go too many days without touching a paintbrush, I miss it so much…

I have been trained in painting techniques and I work mainly with oil painting and collage. Portraits, the human face, are what interests me most. Although from time to time I like to escape from them and deal with other subjects, I always end up returning to the fascination I find in eyes or the movement of lips. For me, a whole universe is hidden in a look, a gesture or an expression. Discovering and interpreting these unknown universes is my challenge; beyond what is seen at first glance, I am interested in leading the viewer to transcend the form and find their own particular depth.
I discovered collage almost 20 years ago and since then, I have never abandoned it, although I always combine it with painting.
I fuse papers and brushes, building a harmonious relationship between them and getting them to help each other.
Collage brings me boldness, surprise, spontaneity, and painting humanizes the work, makes it more tender and gives it more nuances.

This is how I feel, this is how I paint.
